Approximately 20,000 people identified on California’s voter list are suspected of being noncitizens, rendering them ineligible to vote in federal elections.
The Justice Department filed a complaint alongside the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) against California over noncitizens registered on the state’s voter list. The suit states that over 20,000 people on California’s voter list are likely noncitizens who are ineligible to vote. Under California law, all registered voters are mailed a ballot. However, it is illegal for noncitizens to vote in federal elections.
“State-facilitated voter fraud is unacceptable in the United States of America. If found responsible in a court of law, the State of California will have seriously undermined confidence in our electoral system and violated laws that protect our nation’s representative system of government,“ Attorney General Todd Blanche stated. “The Department of Justice will continue working to uncover cases of voter fraud, hold fraudsters accountable, and restore trust in American elections.”
“It is in unlawful for noncitizens to vote in federal elections,“ DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin stated. “DHS is committed to identifying unlawful voting, protecting the integrity of federal elections, and ensuring that only eligible American citizens elect America’s leaders.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Attorney General Blanche as he oversees Justice Department efforts to uphold election integrity in the U.S.
- For Secretary Mullin as DHS collaborates with the Justice Department to ensure compliance with federal election laws.
- For state and local officials to conduct the midterm elections with honesty and transparency.
