FCC Issues Guidance to Help Consumers Stop Unwanted Calls and Texts

The consumer guide provides instructions on call blocking features from top service providers and phone models.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) issued a new step-by-step consumer guide this month that provides instructions to implement blocking features for Apple and Google devices on AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon networks to stop robocalls and robotexts.

FCC Chair Brendan Carr stated, “Combatting the scourge of illegal robocalls remains the FCC’s top consumer protection priority. And we are continuing to take additional steps to crack down on them. The guides we release today are yet another important step in this effort—streamlining essential information and empowering consumers to block and filter calls from their device. Thank you to the providers and manufacturers for implementing these valuable tools, which will continue to work to the great benefit of the American consumer.”

Chairman Carr also released a public notice seeking comment on the creation of a Robocall Scorecard to empower consumers to make informed choices regarding voice service providers. The consumer resources are part of the commission’s broader effort to address and stop illegal robocalls at every point in their life cycle.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For discernment for Chairman Carr and commissioners of the FCC as they seek to equip consumers to prevent robocalls and robotexts.
  • For U.S. officials as they develop resources to help consumers avoid scams and fraud.
