The Military Spouse Commission advises the president on policies to support military spouses and families.
The Military Spouse Commission has held its first meeting at the White House. Established by President Donald Trump on August 3 through an executive order, the commission advises the president on policies affecting military spouses and families. The commission is chaired by Jennifer Hegseth, the wife of Secretary of War Pete Hegseth.
Mrs. Hegseth stated, “We’re here to help President Trump improve the lives of America’s nearly 1 million military spouses, which you all are a part of. And as you know firsthand, military spouses make a sacrifice for our nation together with the sacrifice of your warrior.”
She also explained that the commission is focused on tackling big issues such as employment, housing, education, and healthcare, in addition to smaller issues. The commission will hold monthly meetings at the White House.
