President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump are welcoming Chinese President Xi Jinping and Madame Peng Liyuan to the White House today.
A State Arrival Ceremony honoring President Xi and Madame Peng will be held on the South Lawn, State Floor, and Rose Garden of the White House, featuring 479 military personnel from all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces.
Presidents Trump and Xi will later meet to discuss mutual concerns regarding tariffs and trade, Indo-Pacific security, emerging technology, and human rights.
Senate committees are holding meetings to consider the president’s nominees to the Departments of Justice, State, and Health and Human Services. The Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, chaired by Senator Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, will hold a confirmation hearing for Heidi Overton to be Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration.
