The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced that hybrid-electric demonstration flights were recently conducted as part of the eVTOL Integration Pilot Program (eIPP). The flights took place between Virginia and Philadelphia to test routes to connect small local airports to larger airline hubs.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy stated, “With every new test flight, the Department is gathering more data we need to enable the safe rollout of these next-generation aircraft.”
FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford said, “The information collected from this demonstration will help us build a system that connects Americans in rural communities and larger metropolitan areas, creating more opportunities for jobs and essential services.”
The flights stopped at Washington Manassas Airport, Millville Executive Airport, Atlantic City Bader Field, Northeast Philadelphia Airport, and Philadelphia International Airport.
