Todd Blanche
Attorney General
Todd Wallace Blanche was born in August 1974 in Denver, Colorado. He attended the New Mexico Military Institute, and then Louisiana State University and Beloit College as a student athlete. He earned an undergraduate degree from American University and earned a Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School. He interned at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, and later worked there.
Blanche became a paralegal in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York while attending law school. After graduating, he worked as an associate at a multinational law firm and clerked for district judges for the Southern District of New York and the Eastern District of New York. He became an assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York. He later ran the White Plains district branch office. Blanche returned to the private sector and worked for two separate firms. Blanche formed his own firm when he began to represent President Trump in 2023.
After President Trump won the 2024 election, he nominated Blanche for deputy attorney general. The Senate confirmed him in early March and he was sworn into office.
Blanche is married to Kristine, and they have two children.
In the News…
U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche referred to his oath to uphold the Constitution when asked during an interview about calls to act independently of the White House
The recently confirmed attorney general said, “There’s a big difference between saying, ‘We will always do our job and investigate any case’ and ‘act independently of the White House.’ No, I’m not going to pledge that. And no attorney general should ever pledge that.”
“I will act with integrity,” Attorney General Blanche continued. “Our prosecutors will act with integrity. We will prosecute without fear or any sort of favor. And that’s exactly what we’ve been doing. And that’s what every Department of Justice should do.”
The attorney general said that the president would never, and has never, asked him to do anything unethical or illegal. AG Blanche stated, “I swore to the Constitution of the United States like every cabinet secretary has done and like every attorney general before me has done.”
“DOJ is part of the executive branch,” a Justice Department spokesperson later stated. “Are you suggesting that the focus of the Department should not align with the policy goals of the President, who was elected by the American people? Elected because the people voted for the priorities of that President.”
