President Trump says the U.S. has “far more than we need.”
President Donald Trump and the Pentagon have rejected claims that the U.S. has exhausted its munitions arsenal in the war with Iran. Media outlets reported that the nation was running low on long-range precision missiles, including Army Tactical Missile Systems and Precision Strike Missiles, as well as Patriot and Terminal High Altitude Area Defense interceptors.
“We have far more munitions than anyone in the world, and far more than we need,” President Trump said to journalists. “Our defense companies are, at this moment, making more munitions than they have ever made before, in addition to expanding their plants and equipment at record levels. And as we build up, we will start issuing more to our allies in Europe and elsewhere.”
“The U.S. has massive amounts of ‘munitions,’ especially of certain types. Additionally, large amounts are being manufactured and shipped to the U.S. as needed,” President Trump stated on Truth Social. He added that the leakers of the “treasonous statements” were being legally pursued.
Pentagon chief spokesman Sean Parnell stated, “America’s military is the most powerful in the world and has everything it needs to execute at the time and place of the President’s choosing. We have executed multiple successful operations across combatant commands while ensuring the U.S. military possesses a deep arsenal of capabilities to protect our people and our interests.”
The Pentagon also announced an agreement with Northrop Grumman and Lockheed Martin to triple and quadruple, respectively, their production of critical missile-interceptor components.
