Survivors were released and suspects brought to justice during the month of June.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported the outcome of Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) operations addressing human trafficking during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The department stated that the agencies partnered with local officials to arrest 905 suspects and secure the rescue of 180 victims. The survivors included 150 adults and 30 adolescents.
“While Americans and international visitors were enjoying the FIFA World Cup, the men and women of ICE law enforcement were hard at work cracking down on human trafficking operations in FIFA host cities across the country,” said DHS Public Affairs Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis.
The law enforcement operations included the dismantling of an adult bookstore in Dallas, Texas, which had disguised a brothel for over 20 years. Another HSI rescue operation partnered with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the San Francisco Police Department.
