Legislators are divided on the U.S. involvement and importance of stopping Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
The House of Representatives approved a nonbinding concurrent resolution introduced by Representative Pramila Jayapal of Washington on Thursday that called on President Donald Trump to end the war in Iran.
Also on Thursday, the Senate voted down a binding joint resolution introduced by Senator Chris Van Hollen of Maryland that sought to end U.S. involvement in the war.
Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania recently stated that it was important to continue strikes to stop Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. He said, “I think we’re in an important point in our time, and I think it’s entirely appropriate to continue to get Iran.”
