The Treasury Department reported that “the ultimate goal of sanctions is not to punish, but to bring about a positive change in behavior.”
The Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has taken action against Iranian financial facilitator Ali Ansari for overseeing the regime’s global network of assets and institutionalizing large‑scale embezzlement.
The department stated that Ansari has diverted “publicly funded wealth into an extensive overseas portfolio of real estate and commercial holdings to enrich himself, regime elites—including notable senior figures within the Supreme Leader’s Office—and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.”
The Treasury Department also stated it has targeted “Iranian exchange houses that move billions of dollars annually on behalf of sanctioned Iranian banks, using layers of shell companies to obscure the regime’s illicit financial activity.”
The department explained, “The ultimate goal of sanctions is not to punish, but to bring about a positive change in behavior.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Bessent and Treasury officials as they take action against hostile foreign actors to reduce the funding of terrorism.
- For Director Bradley Smith and OFAC personnel as they implement sanctions against designated individuals and entities.
