The project will create an estimated 900 jobs in Arizona to support the development of zinc and manganese mining operations.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Forest Service has issued its final record of decision for the Hermosa Critical Mineral Project. This decision has been completed in record time as a FAST 41project, as part of President Trump’s goal of increasing U.S. mineral independence and strengthening the country’s energy and economic resilience.
The Hermosa Critical Mineral Project is a $2.16 billion project proposed by Australia-based mining and metals company South32 Hermosa Inc. The proposed mining and processing operation would take place in Santa Cruz County, Arizona, and is expected to create up to 900 jobs.
“The Hermosa Critical Minerals Project shows how increasing domestic production can reduce our dependence on vulnerable foreign sources, and power modern industries, advanced technologies, and essential infrastructure,” USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins stated. “With one of the world’s largest undeveloped zinc resources and key minerals such as zinc and manganese, it’s a strategic investment in America’s energy and manufacturing future.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Rollins to be prudent in her management of the USDA and its many agencies.
- For USDA officials as they oversee the implementation of the Hermosa Critical Mineral Project.
- For President Trump as he works to increase U.S. mineral independence and improve the economy.
