Senator Remains Hospitalized After Medical Emergency

Media reports that emergency personnel responded to an unconscious person who had a cardiac arrest last month.

Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky remains in the hospital after a medical emergency last month, his office confirmed. The 84-year-old senator, who previously announced his retirement at the end of the current term, has experienced multiple adverse health incidents in recent years.

“Senator McConnell appreciates the outpouring of support he’s receiving while he continues his recovery in the hospital,” the senator’s office stated. “The Senator continues to improve, and is working closely with his staff on Kentucky and Senate matters while the Senate is out of session.”

Media reports recently released a recording from the emergency dispatch call in mid-June to the senator’s Washington, D.C., residence for an unconscious person who had experienced “cardiac arrest.“

Senate Majority Leader John Thune of South Dakota said last month that he had spoken with Senator McConnell and that the senator sounded good and was engaged in Senate business despite his absence.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For healing for Senator McConnell and wisdom for his physicians.
  • For Majority Leader Thune to preside over the upper chamber of Congress with integrity.
  • For senators and representatives to be transparent regarding their health and ability to represent their constituents.
