President Pauses Signing of Housing Bill to Promote the SAVE America Act

President Trump at the White House
The bipartisan housing legislation passed in both houses of Congress this week.

President Donald Trump canceled the signing of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act on Capitol Hill on Wednesday, saying it would have to wait until the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) America Act was passed by the Senate. The latter bill, which the House of Representatives has already approved, would require proof of citizenship at the time of voter registration for federal elections.

President Trump announced the cancellation of the news conference and housing bill signing “until such time as we pass the desperately needed SAVE America Act, which I consider to be a National Emergency.”

The president also said that the housing bill “is of minor importance compared to lower interest rates.” He added that even the extension of Section 702 of FISA “pales in comparison to passing the SAVE America Act.”

The housing bill addresses federal regulations and institutional investment in the housing market.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For President Trump as he advocates for the election integrity legislation.
  • For members of the Senate as they consider the president’s signing condition for the housing bill.
