The DOJ explained that human traffickers have relied “on the silence of their victims and a lack of information sharing among government agencies.“
Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche announced the establishment of a National Coordinator in the Department of Justice to head the federal government’s efforts to prevent, prosecute, and end human trafficking and child exploitation. Alessandra (Ali) Serano will serve in the liaison position that develops and implements initiatives to fight human trafficking and child exploitation.
Acting Attorney General Blanche stated in a memo, “Ending human trafficking and the exploitation of children has been and remains one of the highest priorities of the Department of Justice.”
The Justice Department explained, “Human traffickers and child predators capitalize on the hidden nature of their crimes. They rely on the silence of their victims and a lack of information sharing among government agencies.“
“It is time for the information silos to come down, for the silence to break, and for justice to be done,” the acting AG continued. “We are sending a clear and unmistakable message to predators: we are coming for you. … To every victim: know that we stand with you and are committed to achieving justice for you.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Acting Attorney General Blanche to be led by the Lord as he heads the Justices Department.
- For wisdom for Coordinator Serrano as she develops the DOJ’s strategy to combat child exploitation and human trafficking.
- For U.S. federal officials who are seeking to rescue children from traffickers who exploit and abuse them.
