Senator Hawley and nonprofit executive Tim Tebow worked together on the bill to address child trafficking.
President Donald Trump signed a measure this week that provides funding for the Department of Homeland Security Investigations to hire 40 forensic analysts and 30 child exploitation investigators, expanding the work of the Victim Identification Laboratory at the Child Exploitation Investigations Unit.
President Trump said, “The bill provides crucial funding to domestic law enforcement investigations, combating child exploitation, continuing our work to restore law and order across our nation and to protect America’s youth.”
“My legislation with Tim Tebow to rescue thousands of kids from online child exploitation was just signed into law by President Trump,” Senator Hawley stated. “I want to thank the President for leading on this vital issue. This is the largest surge against child trafficking ever by the federal government. Time is of the essence. Let’s rescue these children.”
Tim Tebow, a former NFL player who runs a nonprofit to prevent and rescue victims of human trafficking, testified before the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Counterterrorism earlier this year regarding the very limited investigations the government has made into the downloading, sharing, or distribution in the United States of hundreds of thousands of child rape images.
