The updated system upgrades identity verification, data management, and safety monitoring for commercial carriers.
The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) have launched “Motus,” a federal registration platform for truck drivers, bus operators, and other motor carriers. Motus combines multiple legacy systems into a single digital platform intended to improve data quality, enforcement coordination, and regulatory compliance. It replaces an older network of disconnected applications that officials said allowed fraudulent or unsafe carriers to obtain registrations, conceal identities, or reenter the system under new business names.
“FMCSA’s registration modernization effort represents a major advancement in how the agency oversees and supports the commercial motor vehicle industry,” said Administrator Derek Barrs. “This system improves efficiency for legitimate carriers while strengthening FMCSA’s ability to detect fraud, improve data quality, and identify unsafe operators.”
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said, “For good, honest drivers who follow the rules — our new system will improve customer service, enhance reliability, and cut down on red tape.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Duffy to be prudent in his oversight of upgrades to federal transportation systems.
- For Administrator Barrs as he manages the FMCSA efforts to improve public safety.
- For U.S. transportation officials as they implement new technology to protect legitimate operators and reduce harmful fraud.
