Kenyan High Court Pauses U.S. Plan for Ebola Response Center

Secretary Rubio stated that Ebola cases would not be allowed into the United States.

The White House announced a plan to set up a health facility in Kenya to quarantine and assess individuals who are exposed to the Ebola virus. The Kenyan High Court paused the proposal and will hear petitions on the matter this coming week, as U.S. and Kenyan governing officials negotiate the proposed facility. The World Health Organization declared the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola is a public health emergency of international concern.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated during a recent Cabinet meeting that President Trump’s administration “will not allow any cases of Ebola to enter the United States.” The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has reported over 1,000 suspected cases and 220 deaths since the outbreak was declared two weeks ago.

The proposed high-tech facility would provide quick access to high-quality care for Americans who contract the virus. The facility would be coordinated through the Departments of State, Health and Human Services (HHS), and Defense.

Individuals who begin to have symptoms of Ebola are being transported to a third country, with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) officials and members of the Department of State collaborating on the best locations for sick individuals to receive treatment.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Rubio as he facilitates discussions on the ongoing Ebola outbreak in the DRC.
  • For State, HHS, CDC, and Defense officials as they collaborate on care for Americans who contract Ebola overseas.
  • For wisdom for administration officials as they seek to establish the quarantine facility.
