Supreme Court Vacates Lower Court Ruling Against Texas New Congressional Map

The lower court had found the redistricting effort unconstitutional.

The Supreme Court majority reversed a district court’s judgment in Abbot v. League of United Latin American Citizens that had blocked Texas’ redistricted congressional map. The high court cited its previous emergency order that allowed Texas to proceed with the use of the new map back in December 2025.

The Supreme Court originally determined that the panel of district judges made errors in deciding the case, including making their ruling so close to the state’s primary election. The lower court had stated that Texas had gerrymandered its new map based on race.

The Supreme Court’s initial order stated, “The District Court failed to honor the presumption of legislative good faith by construing ambiguous direct and circumstantial evidence against the legislature.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Chief Justice Roberts and members of the Supreme Court as they deliberate and issue decisions on cases they have heard this term.
  • For circuit and district court judges to be discerning in their judgments.
  • For federal and state officials as they defend laws, regulations, and election-related measures.
