Jared Isaacman
Administrator, National Aeronautics and Space Administration
Jared Taylor Isaacman was born in February 1983 in Summit, New Jersey. He attended Space Camp as a child and launched his first business while he was in high school. He received an undergraduate degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. The university gave him an honorary doctorate in 2024.
Isaacman founded a point-of-sale company and served as its CEO. He co-founded a Florida-based defense aerospace company that owns the largest private fleet of fighter jets and trains military pilots.
Isaacman co-founded a jet team that performs at air shows. He has logged more than 8,000 flight hours and is flight-qualified in several military jets. He set a world record for circumnavigating the globe in a light jet in 2009. He commanded the first all-civilian spaceflight in 2021 and became the first private citizen to conduct a spacewalk in 2024.
President Donald Trump nominated him as the Administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in December 2024, but withdrew the nomination in May. President Trump renominated Isaacman in November 2025, and the Senate confirmed him in December. He assumed office the day following his confirmation.
He is married to Monica, and they have two children. He is non-observant Jewish.

NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman testified before the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee this week. He gave a briefing on the recent Artemis II mission, which conducted a lunar fly-by. It was the first crewed moon mission in 50 years.
Administrator Isaacman spoke about the proposed budget decrease for his agency from President Trump for the coming fiscal year. The plan includes steps to return to the moon by 2028.
The NASA administrator said that the plan “is not to return to the moon to plant the flag and leave the footprints, but to build an enduring presence, to build a moon base where we will turn the south pole of the moon into a scientific and technological proving ground for the capabilities we will need to master.”
