Veterans Affairs Offers $16M in Grants for Adaptive Sports Programs

The funding is intended to expand recreational opportunities for veterans with disabilities.

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) recently announced $16 million in grant funding for organizations that provide adaptive sports programs for veterans and service members with disabilities. Eligible recipients include nonprofits, local governments, and tribal organizations that can deliver recreational and rehabilitative activities such as cycling, skiing, and wheelchair sports.

“Adaptive sports can be life-changing for disabled Veterans, improving strength and facilitating healing while building resilience through competition, camaraderie, and achievement,” said VA Secretary Doug Collins. “These grants will create vital access to local adaptive sports programs to help Veterans stay active, engaged, and connected with their communities and fellow Veterans.”

The program is designed to support physical and mental well-being by increasing access to structured activities that promote independence and community engagement. Applications are open through May 13, 2026.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For VA Secretary Collins as he oversees awarding of grants for adaptive sports programs.
  • For veterans and service members with disabilities to experience restoration, connection, and renewed strength through these programs.
  • For officials in the VA and participating organizations as they administer projects that promote dignity, connection, and sustained care.
