USDA Promotes “Product of USA” Label Awareness Campaign

Voluntary standard limits label to meat, poultry, and egg products sourced and processed in the U.S.

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture (USDA) Brooke Rollins announced a national awareness campaign to inform producers about the “Product of USA” voluntary labeling standard that took effect Jan. 1, 2026. Under the policy, the label may be used only for meat, poultry, and egg products from animals born, raised, harvested, and processed in the United States. The department explained that the change replaces a prior practice that allowed imported products to use the label after limited processing and is intended to clarify labeling requirements for producers and consumers.

“This new standard policy ensures producers who invest in a fully American supply chain can compete fairly, and it gives consumers the confidence they deserve about the food they bring home,” said Secretary Rollins.

The USDA also cited industry data indicating declines in family farm operations and livestock levels alongside continued consumer demand. Officials said the labeling campaign is part of broader efforts to increase transparency and provide information about product sourcing within the food supply chain.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for Secretary Rollins as she oversees the implementation of the updated labeling.
  • For officials in USDA as they facilitate the application of the “Product of USA” labeling standard.
  • For U.S. agricultural authorities to be discerning as they support farmers, ranchers, and food producers.
