Secretary Bessent and U.S. Trade Representative Greer are holding economic discussions ahead of President Trump’s visit to China.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is meeting with Vice Premier He Lifeng of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) in Paris, France, on Sunday and Monday. Their discussions are taking place ahead of President Donald Trump’s scheduled state visit to Beijing at the end of this month.

Secretary Bessent said, “Thanks to the bonds of mutual respect between President Trump and President Xi, the trade and economic dialogue between the United States and China is moving forward.”

U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer will also participate in the meetings. He stated, “The Trump Administration will continue to seek fairness and stability in our relationship with China ‌by reviewing the implementation of recent commitments and working to advance the best interests of America’s farmers, ranchers, producers, and workers.”

The discussions will include tariffs, which the U.S. has dropped to 10 percent after the Supreme Court ruled that President Trump could not impose reciprocal tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Bessent to be discerning as he engages in economic discussions with the vice premier of China.
  • For the Treasury Secretary and U.S. Trade Representative as they lay groundwork for President Trump’s scheduled meeting with President Xi Jinping.
  • For President Trump and members of his trade team as they review statutes that authorize the implementation of tariffs.
