Steve Witkoff
Special Envoy to the Middle East
Steven Charles Witkoff was born in March 1957 in the Bronx, in New York City. He attended Union College before earning an undergraduate degree from Hofstra University. He then received a Juris Doctor from Hofstra Law School.
Witkoff worked as a real estate lawyer for a New York City law firm, of which Donald Trump was a client. Witkoff developed a business relationship with the then-real estate mogul, which transitioned into a personal friendship.
Witkoff co-founded a real estate company with a colleague to own and manage properties in New York City. Witkoff eventually left to form his own company that expanded into real estate construction and land rehabilitation, eventually purchasing properties in Miami Beach, Dallas, Chicago, and Philadelphia.
During President Trump’s first term, Witkoff received financing from Qatari interests. Witkoff co-chaired the presidential inaugural committee for President Trump’s second term inauguration. Upon returning to the executive office, President Trump appointed Witkoff as Special Envoy to the Middle East.
Witkoff is separated from Lauren Jill Rappoport, with whom he had 3 sons, one of whom is deceased. He is Jewish.
In the News…
Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff reported this week that Iran had enough nuclear material to produce almost a dozen missiles.
Envoy Witkoff said, “In that first meeting, both the Iranian negotiators said to us directly, with no shame, that they controlled 460 kilograms of 60% and they’re aware that that could make 11 nuclear bombs, and that was the beginning of their negotiating stance. So that’s – they were proud of it.“
He continued, “They were proud that they had evaded all sorts of oversight protocols to get to a place where they could deliver 11 nuclear bombs.“
