Guidance outlines core content areas and principles for workforce training.
The U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration published a national framework intended to guide artificial intelligence (AI) literacy efforts across workforce and education systems.
The document identifies five foundational content areas and seven delivery principles designed to help states, training providers, and educational institutions integrate AI-related skills into programs while allowing flexibility across industries and roles. The framework builds on prior federal guidance encouraging the use of Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) funding to support AI skill development.
Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer and Education Secretary Linda McMahon stated that the framework is meant to support preparation for an evolving labor market shaped by artificial intelligence technologies.
“The Department of Labor is committed to making sure all American workers are able to share in the prosperity that AI will create for our economy,” said Secretary Chavez-DeRemer. “Our new AI Literacy Framework provides guidance that will help accelerate effective AI skill development across the country.”
