Senator Schumer made the move since President Trump has restricted the display of other flags on federal properties.
Senator Chuck Schumer of New York announced legislation to make the LGBTQ+ flag congressionally authorized. The measure would give the Pride flag the same protections as the American flag, military flags, POW/MIA flags, and others recognized by Congress.
The senator made the announcement after a Pride flag was removed from a national monument by President Trump’s administration earlier this month. Senator Schumer stated, “Congress must act now to permanently protect the Pride flag and what it stands for.”
President Trump previously signed an executive order to ensure the U.S. flag is prominently flown and restricted the other types of flags allowed on display on federal properties.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For discernment for members of the Senate and House as they consider the legislation to congressionally authorize the Pride flag.
- For President Trump and members of his Cabinet as they seek to highlight the nation’s history for the 250th Anniversary this year.
