Federal Judge Rules CA Cannot Unmask ICE Agents

The ruling kept part of the legislation in place that requires federal agents to display their identities on their uniforms.

Federal Judge Christina Snyder blocked legislation in California last week that sought to prohibit federal agents from wearing masks while conducting immigration enforcement operations within the state. The judge determined that the law would have to apply to all law enforcement officials, not exclusively federal agents. She did keep part of the legislation in place that requires federal agents to display their identities on their uniforms.

California legislators have responded by writing up a bill that requires the California Highway Patrol to comply with Judge Snyder’s ruling. However, California’s Governor Gavin Newsom has advocated for state police to be exempt from demasking.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the safety of agents in ICE, CBP, and DHS as they seek to conduct immigration enforcement.
  • For California legislators as they seek to ensure that no officers of the law wear masks.
  • For wisdom for district and appellate judges as they hear cases relating to federal immigration enforcement.
