FBI Offers Reward in Guthrie Abduction Case

A Today Show host’s elderly mother was abducted from her Tucson home over a week ago.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has offered a reward of $50,000 as the search continues for Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of “Today” host Savannah Guthrie. The elderly woman, who was reported missing on February 1, was reportedly abducted from her Tucson, Arizona, home based on security camera footage before it was disconnected.

An FBI special agent shared that ransom notes have been received. Though a man was briefly detained and questioned in connection with the woman’s disappearance, he was later released.

The security camera footage has been released, showing a masked male with a gun tampering with the camera at the front door before she vanished. Family members reported her missing when she was not at church that Sunday morning.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said that she viewed the door cam footage with President Trump. She relayed, “His initial reaction, of course, as all Americans, is just pure disgust. It’s heartbreaking to see now this footage really bring to life a story we’ve all been reading about. And again, we’re just praying for the safety of Nancy Guthrie and that she will return home soon.”

She continued, “The president directed me to please encourage all Americans with any information to call the FBI, and we hope that this case will come to a positive resolution as soon as possible.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For FBI agents as they assist state and local officers with the investigation and search for Nancy Guthrie.
  • For wisdom for law enforcement as they look for evidence and clues to her location and her abductor(s).
  • For Mrs. Guthrie’s health and safe return, and for her family.
