The Pentagon announced the new Personal Property Activity will bring long-needed changes to the moving process for military personnel and their families.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced the establishment of the Personal Property Activity (PPA), a group dedicated to improving the Permanent Change of Station process for moving military members’ household goods. Secretary Hegseth said that the PPA’s mission will be to “guarantee high quality, reliable and efficient household goods and vehicle shipment services for the more-than-300,000 warfighters worldwide who move somewhere every year.”
Military families have experienced problems with their moves for decades, including missed pickups and deliveries, broken and lost household goods, and a cumbersome claims process, despite officials’ attempts to improve the process. The PPA has already instituted changes such as allowing service members to book their moving services a month sooner during peak moving season, increasing per diem paid when a family is inconvenienced by moving delays, updating personal property business rules, and establishing a call center to assist troops and their families.
The PPA will now report directly to Secretary Hegseth through the Under Secretary for Acquisition and Sustainment, and Army Major General Lance Curtis has been named as its first commander.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Major General Curtis as he commands the Personal Property Activity.
- For Secretary Hegseth as he oversees improvements being made for military members and their families.
- For God’s protection over those serving in the U.S. military and their families.
