Today, the continuing resolution keeping the government funded expires. President Donald Trump has negotiated the outstanding government funding that remains to be approved in the Senate with Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York.

The appropriations for the Department of Homeland Security are being separated from the minibus passed by the House of Representatives, with a two-week interim extension for negotiations. After passing the Senate, the rest of the 2026 spending package will return to the House for another vote when the lower chamber is back from recess on Monday.
A White House official stated, “President Trump has been consistent – he wants the government to remain open, and the Administration has been working with both parties to ensure the American people don’t have to endure another shutdown. A shutdown would risk disaster response funding and more vital resources for the American people.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For President Trump as he negotiates to keep the federal government funded.
- For Senate Majority Leader Thune and Minority Leader Schumer as they head their respective parties in the upper chamber of Congress.
- For wisdom for the president and members of his administration as they address issues facing the United States.
