Grand jury subpoenas have been issued by the U.S. Department of Justice and served to the offices of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Attorney General Keith Ellison, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, St. Paul Mayor Kaohly Her, and the attorneys for Ramsey County and Hennepin County for opposing federal immigration enforcement.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem stated, “We have arrested over 10,000 criminal illegal aliens who were killing Americans, hurting children, and reigning terror in Minneapolis… In the last 6 weeks, our brave DHS law enforcement have arrested 3,000 criminal illegal aliens, including vicious murderers, rapists, child pedophiles, and incredibly dangerous individuals. A huge victory for public safety.”
Demonstrations by activists continue in the wake of a woman being shot and killed after striking a federal officer with her SUV earlier this month. She had been obstructing immigration enforcement engaged in Operation Metro Surge for hours before the incident.
President Trump said in an interview this week that he was prepared to invoke the Insurrection Act over the situation in Minnesota’s Twin Cities, but did not think it was time yet. He stated, “It might be at some point. It is actually very common… it’s been used by over 40% of presidents during their term. It’s something I would have no problem doing if I think we needed it.”
