NHTSA Announces Recall of Certain Volvo Models for Battery Fire Risk and Faulty Rearview Cameras

Nearly half a million cars are affected by these two manufacturing issues.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced a recall for the 2025 Volvo EX30 after determining that the electric vehicle was susceptible to short-circuiting and overheating. The NHTSA recall report focused on dozens of cars manufactured between September 6, 2024, and October 25, 2025. This follows a recall of 413,151 cars for defective rearview cameras, involving XC40 models from 2021 through 2025.

The 2025 Volvo EX30 utilizes high-voltage batteries from Sunwoda Power Battery Company in China. The issue has been described as “a process deviation that may result in the formation of lithium plating growth that could also lead to an internal cell short.”

The NHTSA recall report said that Volvo advised affected vehicle owners to “park outside and away from structures and limit their charge to a maximum of 70% until the recall repair is complete.” Remedial software will be applied to affected models, an adjustment which is expected to be made over-the-air.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
