The cities and states protect illegal aliens and prohibit the cooperation of local law enforcement with federal agencies.
President Donald Trump said that sanctuary cities and states will no longer receive federal funding as of February 1. These jurisdictions generally prohibit state or local law enforcement from cooperating with federal immigration agents to detain and remove illegal aliens, even when federal officers have warrants for their arrest. At the Detroit Economic Club last week, the president explained that the sanctuary jurisdictions “protect criminals at the expense of American citizens.”
President Trump later announced via social media, “Effective February first, no more payments will be made by the federal government to states for their corrupt criminal protection centers known as sanctuary cities.“
The president added that these jurisdictions “breed crime and violence,“ saying, “If States want them, they will have to pay for them!“
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For wisdom for President Trump as he seeks to remove criminal illegal aliens from the U.S.
- For the president and members of his administration as they work to enforce U.S. immigration laws.
