Vice President JD Vance cast the tie-breaking vote on Wednesday evening to stop the war powers resolution introduced by Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia.
The Senate heard testimony from Secretary of State Marco Rubio earlier in the week on the completion of Operation Absolute Resolve. Secretary Rubio confirmed that the mission was accomplished and that no U.S. military personnel remained in Venezuela after the capture of Nicolas Maduro.
Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Senator Jim Risch of Idaho said that the war powers resolution was a debate about “trying to stop something that is not happening.”
The resolution sought to ensure “the removal of United States Armed Forces from hostilities within or against Venezuela that have not been authorized by Congress.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Vice President Vance as he supports President Trump and his policies.
- For Majority Leader Thune as he presides over the Senate.
- For members of the Senate as they seek to ensure that military actions occur in accordance with the Constitution.
