DHS also ended Temporary Protected Status for Somalia in the wake of widespread social aid fraud.
The U.S. State Department announced on Wednesday the suspension of immigrant visa processing for 75 countries, including Somalia.
“The State Department will pause immigrant visa processing from 75 countries whose migrants take welfare from the American people at unacceptable rates,” the department explained. “The freeze will remain active until the U.S. can ensure that new immigrants will not extract wealth from the American people.”
The Department of Homeland Security also announced the termination of Temporary Protected Status for immigrants from Somalia. The revocation will take effect on March 17.
“Temporary means temporary. Country conditions in Somalia have improved to the point that it no longer meets the law’s requirement for Temporary Protected Status,” DHS Secretary Kristi Noem stated. “Further, allowing Somali nationals to remain temporarily in the United States is contrary to our national interests. We are putting Americans first.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Rubio to be led by the Lord as he heads U.S. diplomatic efforts.
- For Secretary Noem and DHS officials as they update TPS designations and uphold immigration laws.
