Senator Cruz Urges House to Impeach Judges for Unconstitutional Rulings

Senator Cruz writes to Speaker Johnson after Senate Judiciary Committee subcommittee hearing on the topic.

Senator Ted Cruz of Texas sent House Speaker Mike Johnson a letter urging the lower chamber to move forward on impeachment articles against Federal Judges James Boasberg of the District of Columbia U.S. District Court, and Deborah Boardman of the Maryland U.S. District Court. The articles were introduced by Congressman Brandon Gill and Chip Roy, both of Texas.

Judge Boasberg signed off on surveillance of sitting members of Congress during the FBI Operation Arctic Frost. Judge Boardman reduced the sentence of the defendant convicted of attempting to kill Justice Brett Kavanaugh from a potential 30 years to only 8 years.

Senator Cruz wrote to Speaker Johnson, “Both cases reveal a judiciary that has explicitly ignored its constitutional duties. I urge the House to take up its constitutional duty and advance the impeachment resolutions introduced by Representatives Gill and Roy.”

Senator Cruz, chair of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Federal Courts, Oversight, Agency Action and Federal Rights, said during a recent hearing, “Judges enjoy good behavior tenure enforced by Congress through impeachment, a judge who ceases to meet the standard of good behavior well ceases to hold office, as Hamilton explained in Federalist 81 impeachment quote is alone, a complete security against the danger of judiciary encroachments and judges’ misconstructions of the will of the legislature.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Senator Cruz as he endeavors to see judges held accountable to for rulings that fall outside the U.S. Constitution.
  • For Speaker Johnson as he considers bringing the impeachment articles for the judges to the floor.
