FMCSA grants support enforcement, licensing integrity, and veteran training.
The Department of Transportation (DOT) announced more than $118 million in grants through the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) to support roadway safety, commercial vehicle enforcement, and training programs for veterans entering the trucking workforce. The funding will be distributed to state and local partners to reduce crashes through targeted enforcement, improve safety data systems, and strengthen oversight of commercial motor vehicles.
“These grants are about giving our partners the tools they need to be effective,” said FMCSA Administrator Derek Barrs. “Whether it’s deploying smart technology to identify unsafe vehicles or auditing CDL programs to prevent fraud, every dollar is focused on raising the bar for safety and ensuring only qualified drivers and compliant vehicles are on our roads.”
The grants include funding to enhance the security and accuracy of the Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) system, deploy technology to identify unsafe vehicles, and provide safety-focused training for current and former members of the armed forces.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

- For DOT and FMCSA personnel as they oversee safety programs and grant implementation.
- For officials in federal, state, and local agencies as they collaborate on enforcement and licensing decisions.
- For veterans transitioning into civilian transportation careers through federally supported training.
