The U.S. Supreme Court is hearing the first oral arguments of the new year today.

The case the justices consider today involves the circumstances in which a case can be transferred from state to federal court by a federal contractor. The circumstances involve parishes (counties) of Louisiana seeking to hold oil and gas companies accountable for not obtaining a coastal use permit from the state.

Since the Fifth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals denied the request from the companies to move the case to federal court, the Supreme Court will now hear arguments on the legality of transferring the case.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the justices of the Supreme Court as they consider the relevant laws and questions of jurisdiction in the case.
  • For discernment for Chief Justice John Roberts as he presides over the high court.
  • For President Trump and officials in his administration as they seek to improve and increase oil and gas production in the nation.
