Hope Won’t Disappoint

Hope is God’s gift in dark days.

Romans 5:5 – And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

In his book Making Hope Happen, Dr. Shane Lopez said, “I used to think hope was just a warm, vague feeling. It was that sense of excitement that I got before Christmas when I was a child. It lingered a while and then disappeared.”   It is easy to look at hope with that perspective. But God knows that hope, like oxygen, is necessary for life!

While hope can contain those childlike emotions, when seen as a gift from God it becomes so much more. Hope, as found in the new life given through Jesus Christ poured into your heart by the Holy Spirit, assures you that the future will be better than the present, that you have in Him the power to face any obstacle, and it imbues you with spiritual certainty, and fills you with joy!

In his book Hope Again, Charles Swindoll says hope is “a source of strength and courage in the face of life’s harshest trials.” He adds, “When we are trapped in a tunnel of misery, hope points to the light at the end of the tunnel.” Hope is not a wish, it is a confident attitude because you know its Source.

Though things surrounding this election are confusing and far from certain, you won’t be ashamed to content yourself with your hope in God and His sovereign plan.  So, set aside any hope in the world system, in jobs or money, in the government, or in other people, and put your hope squarely on Jesus and His ability to supernaturally strengthen you.

Pray With Us

Dear Heavenly Father, I have seen your grace and goodness in my life. I am thankful for my identity as Your child because of Jesus Christ and what He has done in my life.  I thank You for the hope poured into my life from the very courts of Heaven through Your Holy Spirit. Give me courage to be a witness to that hope in these dark days, for I love and trust in You,

Amen.
