Multiple departments are working to address concerns over current immigration policies and practices.
The director of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced that all decisions surrounding asylum have been put on hold following the shooting of two National Guard soldiers in Washington, D.C. by an Afghan national last week.
In addition, President Trump has stated that he intends to further tighten immigration policies and enforcement through the prevention of migration from “third-world countries,” the denaturalization of immigrants, reexamining Green Cards issued for people from 19 “high-risk countries of concern,” and promoting remigration.
The president cited ongoing concerns for national security, stating that he would “remove anyone who is not a net asset to the United States, or is incapable of loving our Country, end all Federal benefits and subsidies to noncitizens of our Country, denaturalize migrants who undermine domestic tranquility, and deport any Foreign National who is a public charge, security risk, or non-compatible with Western Civilization.”
The State Department has currently paused visa issuances for all travelers with Afghan passports, and the Department of the Treasury is also moving to block undocumented immigrants from being able to receive federal tax-based benefits.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For wisdom for the president as he works to address issues of national security as it relates to immigration.
- For discernment for those working in the State Department as they interact with immigrants seeking to enter the U.S.
- For God’s ongoing protection over the United States.
