The rules are intended to create transparency and provide clarity under the law.
The Department of the Interior (DOI) has taken steps to clarify the Endangered Species Act. Four proposed rules would adjust parameters for critical habitat designation, reinstate the 2019 consultation framework, and eliminate “blanket” rules in favor of species-specific rules.
The department stated that the goal for these adjustments is to further advance President Trump’s directives to “improve regulatory predictability and ensure federal actions align with the best reading of the law.”
Interior Secretary Doug Burgum stated, “This administration is restoring the Endangered Species Act to its original intent, protecting species through clear, consistent, and lawful standards that also respect the livelihoods of Americans who depend on our land and resources.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Burgum to seek God’s guidance as he strives to uphold President Trump’s policies.
- For Interior Department officials to oversee the protection of endangered species with integrity and transparency.
- For the president and members of his Cabinet to be discerning as they update federal regulations.
