Attorney General

Pamela Jo Bondi was born in November 1965 in Tampa, Florida. She earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Florida and earned a Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law. She worked as an assistant state attorney in Hillsborough County, Florida.

Bondi won the election for Florida attorney general in 2010 and was reelected four years later. She became a lobbyist and worked as a registered foreign agent. Bondi served on the legal team of President Trump during the impeachment trial during his first term.

After President Trump won the 2024 election, he nominated Bondi for U.S. attorney general after his first nominee, former Congressman Matt Gaetz, withdrew. The Senate confirmed her in early February and she was sworn into office.

Bondi is partnered with John Wakefield. She is divorced from Garret Barnes, and divorced from Scott Fitzgerald. She has had ties to the Church of Scientology in the past.

In the News…

U.S. Attorney General Pamela Bondi visited Memphis, Tennessee, this week to report on the progress of the Memphis Safe Task Force. The attorney general was joined by U.S. Marshals Service Director Gadyaces Serralta, Housing and Urban Development Secretary Scott Turner, Governor Bill Lee, and U.S. Senators Bill Hagerty and Marsha Blackburn.

The attorney general stated that murders have declined 48 percent, sexual assaults decreased 49 percent, and robberies dropped 61 percent compared with the same timeframe last year. The task force made 3,100 arrests, including 327 “known gang members,” and 501 firearms had been seized since the operation began at the end of September.

“The people of Memphis deserve to be safe,” Attorney General Bondi said. “Every American deserves to be safe to go to the grocery store, to take their kids to school, to be able to go to church on a Sunday without fear.”

“We will use every legal means at our disposal to make America safe again and to keep Americans safe.”
