U.S. delegation met with Ukrainian officials in Geneva, Switzerland.
President Donald Trump recently endorsed a draft peace proposal developed by U.S. officials that includes significant territorial and security changes as part of ending the war in Ukraine. The plan, shared by U.S. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, included limits to the size of Ukraine’s armed forces, a constitutional commitment not to join NATO, and recognition of certain territories under Russian control.
It also proposed a coordinated military response should Russia violate the agreement, the use of frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine’s reconstruction, and long-term economic cooperation between the U.S. and Russia. Although the document included provisions Ukraine has historically opposed, President Zelensky said he was willing to discuss the proposal and contribute revised terms.
The proposal also called for elections in Ukraine within 100 days of an agreement, a demilitarized buffer zone in part of Donetsk, expanded humanitarian measures, and mutual amnesty for actions committed during the war. The plan outlined extended nuclear-arms control commitments, economic reintegration for Russia, and a joint security working group.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For U.S. officials as they engage with Ukrainian and Russian representatives and other global leaders to shape conditions for peace.
- For President Trump to be wise in his promotion of peace plans and proposals to end international conflicts.
- For the Lord to guide all the ambassadors and emissaries who are involved in negotiating peace.
