Legislators consider the impeachment of the federal judge who signed off on subpoenas for Senate legislators.
Representative Brandon Gill introduced articles of impeachment against District of Columbia Chief Judge James Boasberg, who signed off on subpoenas for the private information of federal legislators during the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Arctic Frost probe four years ago.
Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Chuck Grassley recently released a report that showed nearly 200 subpoenas were sent to obtain information on hundreds of members of President Trump’s party in the investigation, including 10 U.S. senators, gathering cellphone communications data, banking records, and emails.
House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan said, “What we’ve learned is it was much broader, much more expansive, than we ever thought.“ He said his committee would like Special Counsel Jack Smith to testify regarding the apparent political operation and to divulge how many members of Congress were surveilled without their knowledge.
Senator Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee has requested that Attorney General Pamela Bondi unseal some of the grand jury materials from the probe, as the judge had issued a non-disclosure order for mobile carrier Verizon to conceal the records that were ordered by the court. Senator Blackburn was one of the legislators whose personal phone records were subpoenaed.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For members of Congress as they seek answers on the FBI investigation and spying operation.
- For wisdom for Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Grassley and House Judiciary Committee Chair Jordan as they seek answers regarding the covert surveillance of legislators.
- For representatives in the House as they consider the impeachment articles for the chief judge.
