Defense Secretary Speaks About PURL Initiative at NATO Defense Ministers Meeing

His plane had to make an emergency landing in the United Kingdom on the way back from Belgium.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth commended the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative at the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Defense Ministers meeting in Brussels, Belgium. Under the initiative, NATO member nations support Ukraine’s “firepower.“

Secretary Hegseth said, “Our expectation today is that more countries donate even more, that they purchase even more to provide for Ukraine, to bring that conflict to a peaceful conclusion.”

The U.S. defense secretary said, “You get peace when you are strong, not when you use strong words or wag your finger. You get it when you have strong and real capabilities that adversaries respect. And I believe that’s what NATO is doing. I believe that’s what the PURL initiative is.“

Secretary Hegseth’s airplane had to make an unscheduled landing in the United Kingdom on the way back due to a cracked windshield.

Pentagon Spokesperson Sean Parnell stated, “On the way back to the United States from NATO’s Defense Ministers meeting, Secretary of War Hegseth’s plane made an unscheduled landing in the United Kingdom due to a crack in the aircraft windshield. The plane landed based on standard procedures, and everyone onboard, including Secretary Hegseth, is safe.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • With gratitude to the Lord for keeping the defense secretary and his staff safe on the flight.
  • For wisdom for Secretary Hegseth as he oversees the U.S. military and the Pentagon.
