The coalition brings together federal officials and national organizations to coordinate civics programs ahead of the United States’ 250th anniversary.
Department of Education Secretary Linda McMahon announced the formation of the America 250 Civics Education Coalition on Constitution Day this month. The initiative involves more than 40 national and state-based organizations, including the America First Policy Institute, Turning Point USA, and Hillsdale College. The initiative will coordinate civics programming in schools and communities ahead of the nation’s 250th anniversary in 2026.
“As America approaches 250 years since its founding, we are proud to announce this coalition to ensure every young American understands the beauty of our nation and is equipped with the civic knowledge required to contribute meaningfully to its future,” said Secretary McMahon. “A country cannot survive if its values are forgotten by its people. More than ever, we need to restore the vitality of the American spirit.”
The coalition intends to roll out programs over the next year, including a college speaker series and a nationwide campus tour, while also developing resources to make civics education more accessible and engaging. Leaders involved emphasized that civic understanding and informed citizenship are central to sustaining the nation’s future.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary McMahon to be led by the Lord as she oversees the civics knowledge initiative.
- For U.S. education officials as they collaborate on future-focused civic education for the nation’s 250th anniversary.
