It is well with the man who deals generously and lends; who conducts his affairs with justice. – Psalm 112:5
Sometimes it pays to look at the larger picture – stand back and review a situation at the macro level rather than looking at the micro. With that in mind, take a moment and read all of Psalm 112 (yes, please, do it in this moment – the link below will take you there; then come back here).
This is a psalm that focuses on the moral character of the faithful. It describes the benefits that a person receives and brings to others because of it. Those who fear – stand in awe of – God, actually delight in the Lord’s commandments. Why do they feel that way? Because they understand that God’s desires are for their good. Because they love what God loves and hate what God hates, they are gracious, merciful, and righteous. Because the Lord blesses them, they will, in turn, deal generously and justly with others. They trust in the One who makes their faith walk firm and steady. They learn to be confident in the Lord and not fear, no matter the circumstance.
There are many people today who are caught up with the minutiae of the moment; they feel compelled to respond to every social media post, emotions soar over ideological disagreements, and heartbreak lies in the wake of political violence that destroys lives and others’ life’s work.
It is the duty of the righteous, the faithful, the God-fearing to hold to what is right and not be silent. May God’s glory be seen in His people, both where you live and in the halls of government. Pray that it be so. Read the Psalm again and give God the glory.

Praise the Lord!
Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
who greatly delights in his commandments!
2 His offspring will be mighty in the land;
the generation of the upright will be blessed.
3 Wealth and riches are in his house,
and his righteousness endures forever.
4 Light dawns in the darkness for the upright;
he is gracious, merciful, and righteous.
5 It is well with the man who deals generously and lends;
who conducts his affairs with justice.
6 For the righteous will never be moved;
he will be remembered forever.
7 He is not afraid of bad news;
his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord.
8 His heart is steady; he will not be afraid,
until he looks in triumph on his adversaries.
9 He has distributed freely; he has given to the poor;
his righteousness endures forever;
his horn is exalted in honor.
10 The wicked man sees it and is angry;
he gnashes his teeth and melts away;
the desire of the wicked will perish!
