Right Living

Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.  – Proverbs 14:34

God sets the laws of the Universe and for humankind. He is the Creator. He has gone to great lengths to give every person an opportunity to enjoy a place of fellowship with Him and to rest in His Kingdom. Sin was birthed by one setting out to dethrone Him from that place of sovereign authority, trying to usurp both the reign and glory.

The basic nature of sin has not changed. Sin is setting oneself in opposition to the Lord of all life and the universe. The consequence of sin is death of the spirit and destruction of the mind and body. There is great forgiveness for those who accept the Savior and purpose to keep God’s laws, but the one rejecting God Himself harbors sin and is in grave spiritual danger.

When sin engulfs a nation, God’s hand of fellowship is obstructed by the people’s choice to reject Him. But when people turn toward and seek to honor the Creator and observe His ways, even imperfectly, their nation enjoys His presence and His favor.

Today, ask the Lord to continue to draw the hearts and minds of the next generation to Himself. Intercede for current leaders, as well as candidates in next year’s election cycle, to uphold Godly values and pray that men and women of faith will be chosen to govern the United States.

Today’s Verse: Proverbs 14:34

Righteousness exalts a nation,
but sin is a reproach to any people.

Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness. You know that he appeared in order to take away sins, and in him there is no sin. No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has either seen him or known him. Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous. Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.
