U.S. Admiral Receives Service Medal from Norway for Arctic Defense

He was recognized for strengthening U.S., NATO defense in the Arctic.

Norway recently awarded U.S. Admiral Stuart Munsch, commander of Naval Forces Europe-Africa and Allied Joint Force Command Naples, with their Defense Service Medal with Laurel Branch, in recognition of his work to secure the High North and the Arctic for the benefit of NATO. The medal is given to Norwegian and foreign military and civilian personnel “who have demonstrated personal excellence, skills and efforts for the Norwegian Armed Forces.”

Some areas of Arctic ice have experienced reductions, opening waterways that Russia and China have used to assert dominance in the region. Admiral Munsch serves as the commander of Naval Forces Europe-Africa and Allied Joint Force Command Naples, and has coordinated submarine and other underwater operations to prevent adversaries from utilizing this new strategic opening.

“I’m deeply grateful to Norway for this recognition on behalf of the people of NAVEUR/NAVAF and proud to stand shoulder-to-shoulder in defense of the High North,” Admiral Munsch stated.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Admiral Munsch and all U.S. commanders as they seek to coordinate with military allies.
  • For Secretary Hegseth to be led by the Lord in his management of the U.S. Armed Forces.
  • For President Trump to seek God’s guidance as commander-in-chief of the U.S. military.
