Franklin Graham Urges Christians to Pray and Vote

As the midterm elections near, the evangelist is calling believers to make voting a priority.

Evangelist Franklin Graham, President and CEO of Samaritan’s Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, has urged Christians to take part in the November 3 midterm elections. “I urge Christians to do their research, to pray, and to vote,” he wrote on October 5.

In a series of recent posts, Graham shared his own view of where the two major parties stand on issues such as immigration, election integrity, and gender. He ended one post with, “The choice is yours—but look prayerfully at what both parties stand for,” and another with, “Pray for our nation, and, by all means, VOTE.”

On primary day in June, he wrote, “Voting is a great privilege that many people around the world do not have.” And he has reminded believers of what comes after the ballots are counted: “The Bible instructs us to pray for our leaders. No matter who you voted for, they need your prayers for God’s wisdom and direction to lead our nation.”

[Note: The Presidential Prayer Team is a non-partisan ministry and does not endorse any party or candidate, and we encourage members to weigh every message this season with care and prayer. We do share Graham’s conviction that every Christian should make voting a priority.]

Graham has served as chairman of The Presidential Prayer Team’s Reference/Advisory Board.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Christians across America as they seek God’s wisdom, weigh their choices prayerfully, and vote.
  • For every candidate, that they would conduct themselves with honesty and integrity in these final days.
  • For those elected on November 3, that they would be covered in prayer by believers.
