In the News…

The National Guard is still deployed to help secure the nation’s capital. Its troops are also still present in Memphis, Tennessee, as part of President Trump’s policy to increase public safety and reduce crime. The D.C. U.S. Circuit Court is hearing a lawsuit that seeks to end the deployment to Washington.

When troops intervened in a fight near Eastern Market over the weekend, a National Guard member was shot. National Guard members have also been directed not to monitor or secure ballot boxes or polling locations.

A federal judge ordered an end to the deployment nearly a year ago, which the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals paused.
